Emily Drummond Blog 02: Business Card
Introduction:
This week our class had to design our own business card using AdobeDesign. I included a picture of myself and my twin sister, an icon of a basketball, and my contact information. I chose a picture of my twin sister Anna and I. She is very special to me and a big part of my life. In terms of this business card, this picture is significant because we both played basketball at an early age and will be working together as basketball instructors. Next, I selected a basketball icon. Basketball is my favorite sport and something I have participated in my entire life. Basketball taught me many skills and helped make me who I am today. My title for this business card is Co-Baksetabll Instructor.
What I learned:
Using AdobeDesign was surprisingly fun. I expected too struggle. Although, after some time practicing and learning more about AdobeDesign, I became much more comfortable with it. I did find myself struggling at some points, but looking back at the readings and asking for help was extremely beneficial. I thought my business card came out well for my first attempt. I am excited to continue using AdobeDesign in class. I hope to learn and become more proficient with AdobeDesign. Two skills I learned while creating this card was resizing an image and adjustment layers. One skill I learned was resizing an image. Learning how to resize is very important to adding content to future projects. To resize an image, you go to the image tab on the top of your computer screen and click image size. There, you will find all the dimensions and characteristics of that photo. You can increase or decrease these controls in the image size tab. When you enlarge a photo it sometimes look "blurry"(Adobe Help). Unfortunately, I think my picture of my twin sister and I came out a little blurry. After revisiting the readings and videos on Adobe help, I feel confident for our next project. I will work to control the size of my image so it doesn't look blurry.
I also learned how to work with layers in AdobeDesign. AdobeDesign stated in one of its videos, "you are going to want to control which layers are affected by which adjustment layers" (AdobeHelp). Therefore, I learned how to work with layers and certain properties in AdobeDesign that only effect specific layers. Working with layers is important when adding details to your projects. It is important to make sure they only affect that specific layer. Even though, I didn't add any adjustments to my layers on my business car, I thought I did well working with my different images. I know for future projects this skill will help me tremendously in adding more details.
