Blog 05: Swatchy Schemey

Image
Summary: For this week's blog post, we were tasked to make our very own color schemes and name plates.  Throughout the past week, we have learned the importance of color and contrast. While reading I learned how the color value is "how bright or dark the color is" (Beachy). Color can make or break your project. Therefore, "r educing the number of colors we use in our design will make the piece feel consistent" (Beachy).  While brainstorming for this specific blog post, I thought of using my rainbow colored dress! I love this dress so much and all the different colors that are incorporated throughout it. I knew these colors would be perfect for constructing my very own color scheme. I first went to my closet and took an up close picture of the dress.  I knew I wanted to use the light purple, light pink, and yellow colors for my overall color scheme!  Here is a close up picture of the pattern on the dress My Color Scheme  I really liked the result of my col...

Blog 04: Heal Thyself

Before Edits  After Edits  Layer Panels Summary: This week we have been working with healing, closing, patch tools, and layers. I have really enjoyed working with these specific tools in class and feel I am starting to gain more confidence and knowledge using photoshop. I decided to use another image of a tired baby to express the dreadful emotion of Mondays. My first image is what my meme looked like before I added layers.  I found my first image on the internet and then uploaded it to photoshop. From there, I added layers to make specific edits. I cropped the image , added text, and used the soft healing brush tool as well. What I learned: During this week's reading, I learned about the "spot healing brush tool" on photoshop and how it can remove unwanted content. The spot healing brush tool can "easily eliminate distracting elements” (Adobe Help). This tool is very beneficial to making your edit stronger.  I watched the video on Adobe Help on how to properly use t...

Blog 03: Me(me): Not Impressed.

Image
Introduction: For this week's blog assignment we had to come up with our own "meme" and construct it using Photoshop. After listening to our class lectures, doing in class activities, and watching Adobe Photoshop videos, I feel as though I now have a better understanding of photoshop. I struggled a little trying to complete the assignment. Rewatching the videos helped, but I think I need to go into the classroom and practice a little more. For my meme,  I decided to choose a picture of a baby who's clearly very tired and not awake. I then added the caption "Monday's." on top of it. I selected this picture because of how long these past few weeks have been studying for midterms! I couldn't be more happy. Fall break is just around the corner.  What I Learned: While reading, I learned the importance of working with layers. I had to use layer groups, in order to add text over the picture of the baby. Adobe Photoshop states, " it’s easier to find tex...

Emily Drummond Blog 02: Business Card

Image
Introduction: This week our class had to design our own business card using AdobeDesign. I included a picture of myself and my twin sister, an icon of a basketball, and my contact information. I chose a picture of my twin sister Anna and I. She is very special to me and a big part of my life.  In terms of this business card, t his picture is significant because we both played basketball at an early age and will be working together as basketball instructors. Next, I selected a basketball icon. Basketball is my favorite sport and something I have participated in my entire life. Basketball taught me many skills and helped make me who I am today. My title for this business card is Co-Baksetabll Instructor. What I learned: Using AdobeDesign was surprisingly fun. I expected too struggle. Although, after some time practicing and learning more about AdobeDesign,  I became much more comfortable with it. I did find myself struggling at some points, but looking back at the rea...

Emily Drummond Blog 1: Composition

Image
Introduction and Theme: For our first blog assignment, we learned about composition and several steps on how to take better photos. I read several articles explaining ideas on how to improve your photography skills. After reading, it made me realize how much work and effort truly goes into photography. For my theme, I chose to take photos of the beautiful greenery that I am surrounded by on this beautiful campus. I now feel as though I have a better understanding on how to “work with the shot” and will be able to take more professional looking photos from now on.  My first subject: My first set of photos  I chose to take pictures of this bush outside in my backyard! I really like how the bush is the main subject in this photo. I also think the lighting is really good which helps enhance the bush. I made sure my camera was centered and the bush was lined up correctly, that way viewers can have a clear view of it.  I wanted the bush to be the main focus of the picture and I...
